When Voices Come Together

There’s something powerful about bringing voices together around a shared vision. Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating on several books that were never meant to be written alone.

Free to Give and Free to Gather were the first two volumes in our series—co-authored projects filled with stories and insights from people who have experienced the freedom of grace firsthand. These books were created to benefit the Legacy Society, helping authors leave behind a literary inheritance of hope and truth.
Resurrection Life, our poetry collection, was a project that surprised me in the best way. It inspired me to pick up my own pen and begin writing poetry again—a creative outlet I hadn’t explored in years.
Now, we’re working on Finding Your Voice, a project written entirely by women (though it isn’t only for women). Most people struggle in this area—learning to trust their own words, to share their story without apology. But within the church, especially, many women have a uniquely qualified experience when it comes to finding and using their voice. This book is an invitation to step into that space with confidence, honesty, and freedom.
We’re also preparing Free to Be Free, the third installment in the “Free To” series. This book focuses on that moment when everything shifted—when you stepped out from under religion’s weight and realized you were already free.
One thing I love about these collaborations is the mix of voices—new writers stepping out for the first time, alongside seasoned authors like Wm. Paul Young, Steve McVey, and Malcolm Smith. I’ve been both grateful and inspired to watch everyone’s stories weave together into something none of us could create alone.
Collaborating with other writers has grown me in ways I didn’t expect. Their authenticity, creativity, and perspective have shaped my own writing and reminded me how much we need each other’s stories. At its core, these collaborations are about community—about creating a place where each person’s voice is honored and where we can grow together as writers and as people.
To each of you who has trusted me with your words—thank you. You’ve left a mark on my life and my own writing.
Here’s to the words we’ve already released into the world—and the ones still waiting to be born.
Looking ahead, we have more collaborative books on the horizon, including Free to Worship and a special project to reintroduce A Christmas Carol. We’ll be republishing this classic with added reflections and insights that highlight the story’s themes through a grace perspective. It’s exciting to think about how these stories—old and new—will continue to shape our community and spark fresh conversations.
